After loss, there is still life to navigate.

After losing a spouse, there can be so much to carry that other people do not see.

Grief. Family. Finances. The home. Children. Legal and estate matters. Work. Faith. Relationships. Identity. And the question of what life looks like from here.

The Widow’s Oil Inaugural Gathering has been created to bring these realities into one room — with women, professionals and organisations ready to listen, share practical knowledge and help you understand what support may be available.

You do not have to arrive with all the answers.
You do not have to pretend to be strong.

Come as you are.

Faith. Healing. Knowledge.
Support. Possibility.

This is not simply a day of speeches.

It is a carefully curated gathering designed around some of the real questions women may face after the death of a spouse.

Healing After Loss

Understanding grief, trauma, anxiety, identity and emotional wellbeing.

Faith After Loss

Making room for grief, questions, prayer and faith when life does not look the way you expected.

When Grief Meets the Law

Practical conversations around wills, estates, inheritance, property and legal rights.

Money After Loss

Understanding financial changes, protection, household finances and the journey towards greater financial stability.

Work, Business & Possibility

Exploring employment, entrepreneurship, skills and new economic opportunities.

Family & Community

Navigating children, dependants, relationships, loneliness and rebuilding a support system.

Practical Support & Referrals

Connecting women, where possible, with credible professionals, organisations and services that can support them beyond the event.

A place to connect. A place to belong.

Not 400 women sitting anonymously in rows.

40 tables.
10 women at each table.

The table format is intentional.

Widow’s Oil is not only about listening to what happens on a stage.

It is about sitting with another woman.
Sharing a meal.
Listening.
Talking.
Asking a question.
Making a connection.

And perhaps discovering that you do not have to navigate every part of this journey alone.

Forty tables can become forty conversations.

And forty conversations may become communities of support that continue long after 31 October.

Conversations that matter.

Understanding Grief, Trauma and the Journey Back to Self

Widowhood can affect more than the heart.

It can affect identity, sleep, concentration, anxiety, family life and the ability to function day to day.

Nolita Mtati will lead an honest and compassionate conversation about grief, emotional wellbeing and the journey of finding your way back to yourself after loss.

Her session will explore grief, trauma, identity, anxiety, emotional wellbeing, the pressure to be strong and knowing when to ask for help.

Because faith and professional support can exist together.

More speakers and special guests will be announced soon.

There is a place for you at the table.

This gathering may be for you if you lost your husband recently.

It may also be for you if your loss happened many years ago, but parts of the journey are still difficult.

Perhaps you are carrying everyone else while quietly trying to understand your own grief.

Perhaps your household finances changed after your husband died.

Perhaps you have questions about the home, an estate, inheritance or legal matters.

Perhaps you are trying to return to work, grow a business or discover a new source of income.

Perhaps you feel lonely even when surrounded by people.

Perhaps you have questions about God that you have never felt free to ask.

Or perhaps you simply want to spend a day in a room where you do not have to explain what it means to have lost a spouse.

You are welcome here.

Widow’s Oil is rooted in Christian faith.

We also recognise that some moments require professional support.

Sometimes healing involves prayer.

Sometimes it involves speaking to a psychologist.
An attorney.
A financial professional.
A social worker.
A trusted faith leader.
Another widow.

And sometimes, it involves several of these together.

Faith is why we serve. It is not a condition for receiving dignity.

Every woman entering the Widow’s Oil gathering should be treated with compassion, respect and dignity.

We can help you.

If you are unable to complete the online registration form, please do not let technology prevent you from attending.

The Widow’s Oil team can assist you with a manual registration.

There is still oil.

Perhaps you are not yet ready to know exactly what the next chapter looks like.

That is okay.

Come as you are.
Sit at the table.
Listen.
Ask questions.
Meet another woman.
Receive support.
And begin there.

What remains can become the beginning.
